ReplyDeleteOoh, IDC giveaway! My fav character is Atticus and the (RIP) Gunner.
ReplyDeleteI already follow you on GR and Twitter. :)
Yay! I can't wait to read Tricked. Although I'm a bit scared about how it's going to proceed. My favourite character without a doubt is Oberon. Hopefully a certain female character grows a pair in this installment.
ReplyDelete@Lan: I've already read it, and, yes, she does grow a pair. I liked her in this book.
DeleteI've yet to read the first one but I own it. Every time people rave about a book I get so nervous to read it. My expectations get ridiculously high.

ReplyDeleteOmigod so hard to choose! I think after reading Hammered, Atticus is cemented as my favorite because of his squeeing over Neil Gaiman! :D

ReplyDeleteI haven't read this series yet but I hope to soon :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the series yet but I'd really love to!
ReplyDeleteKevin Hearne succeeds on both counts in "Hounded". Hearne's hero, Atticus, is the last of the Druids--just not one of the white-bearded old guys. Being 2100 years old, he looks like a handsome college dude (I admit it. If I got to choose my looks, I would do the same.). Fortunately for Atticus, he has ability to enjoy life along with the guile and experience of a whitebeard to mostly keep out of trouble. Like all good action heroes, he doesn't take himself too seriously, but has significant standards that he is willing to fight for (as well as just fighting to stay alive).
ReplyDeleteSurviving as a Druid, Atticus has to deal mostly with the Celtic pantheon of gods, Fae, and their relatives. Even being half Irish, it can be hard for me to always keep up, but Hearne keeps the number of characters reasonable, so that it is easy to follow. He also makes clear that the Fae are not from Disney studios: Their casual deadliness is based on their enormous power. And enormous power leads not to corruption, but to enormous self-absorption.
